Hey everyone
.
Firstly this post will be a little long (although I’ll try and keep it interesting) if you’d prefer the tl;dr version it’s at the bottom :)
Now, some of you here follow me because I post cute stuff and you like cute stuff, that’s awesome! I also adore cute stuff. Others of you follow because you’re kind enough to enjoy “Moo & Keo” the comic I make.
The latter group of people will have noticed that new updates dried up a few months ago and mookeo.com has been pretty quiet since then. I’ve had a few people ask me if everything is ok and if Moo & Keo is still going to be releasing new stuff. Firstly I assure you that M&K is very much alive and will be back with new strips before you know it and before I expand on that I really do want to thank those of you who have been nice enough to ask about the strip, especially those of you who I have seen at conventions over the last few months.
Right, so what went wrong? I hear some of you ask. The honest truth is nothing went wrong to stop updates, it’s just that too many things went right at the same time and alas 24 hours is to few to make a day.
Over the last couple of years I have been hand making little books of each Moo & Keo storyline to sell on the website and at conventions. They weren’t the most perfect constructions in the world (the last batch had slightly tacky covers as the photo paper I used was just STRANGE after it was left for a while) but they were made with love and a lot of you lovely people bought them. Around the time of the last Moo & Keo storyline finishing I was given a chance to turn the content from the first two storylines into a book, an actual published book.
I jumped on the chance, as I’m sure a lot of you would, and proceeded to enter the long process of putting print files together, getting proofs, etc. Around the same time other things in my life away from the comic, that I shan’t bore you with here, got a lot more busy and time eating. Alas something had to fall by the wayside for a while and because of commitments neither my day job or the book could be those things. I tried to work on new strips in the meanwhile however because of the time constraints in effect I would have either produced lots of strips that I wasn’t very proud of or a very small number that I was. Neither of which would have been fair to the reader. I honestly believe that I should either do my best to do the strip properly or pause and come back when I can.
Suffice to say that the only real regret I have in all this is not communicating this on the site better. Those of you who follow me on twitter may know more of what has gone on but I can’t expect you all to see me there.
Anyway, that leads me to going forward. The book is DONE, those of you who have seen me at the last couple of conventions I have attended may even have a shiny copy in your collection (if you like you can buy it online here). I have turned my head to the next storyline (which I am hoping will make it into a second book some time next year) and a re-vitalisation of the website and blog.
The plan is to get everything up and running again in time for the New Year. That is, new strips, new(er) site, more ramblings from me (I want to do at least a weekly blog) and other such things.
Get ready for 2012 guys, it’s going to be a hell of a year!
Before then, have a wonderful Christmas,
Matt
(tl;dr: Moo & Keo will be back in Jan 2012 with new strips, a regular blog and other fun stuff)
